Thank you note

Hi
Yes, I do love the musical notes for thank you cards. lol
This one is white card stock with notes and music embedded into it. I cut out little notes and printed sheet music, wrote the sentiment with the Cricut and Amy Chomos pens. Then I glued the notes and music to the cardstock and ran it through the Cuttlebug folder(I think it is called musical notes). Matted it onto black and added some large musical notes to the inside and lined the envelope with the sheet music. I used a line of navy peel off sparkly ribbon top and bottom just for some bling.
Have a Blessed day.

These are four more Christmas cards

Hi
Just had to post the last four cards before Christmas.
There isn't much to tell about them. The sailing one is a picture my niece took on her travels and I added the sailboats from TuJ's and a Taco; the sleigh is iris folding; the butterfly is Marianne Design on shiny paper; the CD has a rosette I made and also the poinsettia is from Penny Duncan's files. I really enjoy making the poinsettias and the rosettes.
That seems to be it for the Christmas cards.
Have a Blessed day.

One more Christmas card before Christmas

Hi
Here is one that I really like. I used Perfect Pearls Powder and Stampscapes (sorry I can't remember the name of this one, think it is cabin something or other).
Used some gorgeous glitz paper for a frame and a Cuttlebug label. A little navy ribbon for a wee bit of contrast.
Have a Blessed day.

Snowflakes, medallions, poinsettia

Hi
The baking is done except for a bit of peanut brittle and some fudge so I decided to clear up the bits and pieces from the card making desk. This gorgeous snowflake svg comes from Lea at http://tujs.wordpress.com/. It is cut on the Cricut from pearlized paper using SCAL. The snowflakes are punched then glued onto red cardstock and then run through the Snowflake Cuttlebug folder. It looks like they were part of the cardstock. Love this little trick. I stamped Merry Christmas all over the white card stock before I started putting things together. The bit of green flocking cardstock has the braided edge from EK and the lace is a bit from the hundreds of feet of lace I have. The lace comes from the days when I was into making albums. I really must find some more ways of using it up. Added a bit of stickles for bling and all done.
Have a Blessed day.

Poinsettia and flocked paper

Hi
Poinsettia's are all around us and my work desk is no exception. I found a great svg from Penny Duncan http://pennyduncancreations.blogspot.com/that I like and made a whole bunch in red and one in white and blue. I just "have" to make another blue and white one before the season is over.
This is some gorgeous flocked paper that was left over from my cards. It is from Anna Griffin, Calisto Christmas (last year at Michaels). The punch is from EK and I think it is called braid. Of course the medallion just "had to"feature in my cards somewhere. So many of my cards have so much raised stuff that it will cost a fortune to send them. My next project (in the New Year) is to make little flat boxes that will accomodate my cards for mailing without costing a fortune.
Have a Blessed day.

Ice Skates

Hi
This card met with disaster but I hated to throw away the glitter so with a few corner dies from Cuttlebug and some gorgeous skates from the Cricut Winter Woodland and a bit of ribbon I think it turned out rather cute. The skates dangle on the ribbon.
I have some new two sided tape from the Dollar Store and boy does it ever grip so I better have everything lined up perfect because it will NOT be able to be repositioned. I found that out the hard way. Whoops, when I looked at the pic again I see there is some fuzz on the bow of the skates. I need to add a sentiment yet as well so will remove the fuzz before mailing.
Have a Blessed day.

Simple snowflake card

Hi
I needed to make a simple little card. This one pleased me. I used Cuttlebug snowflake folder and embossed the cardstock. Next I scored around the outside on the Score Pal. I had some lovely flocked cardstock so used MS punch and made some leaves. Made a circle and embossed it. Glued the leaves around and added a few of beads. Popped the wreath with some pop dots.
I didn't want the sentiment to overpower the wreath so used a lighter red ink.
There you have it. Simple but sweet.
Have a Blessed day.

Pop up Christmas card

Hi
I love pop up cards and here is one that I had the interior cut out last year and didn't get finished. If you recognize the cut out please let me know and I will give you credit. I will also then be able to put a name to my file. Seems the cyber space gremlin had a field day with some of my files and they are now lost in cyber space. So, some of the cuts I use are from the pile on my desk and I have no idea who did them.
The interior fireside is from ChristmasFiles.com and the outer card is a recycled Christmas card.
Have a Blessed day.

My friends house- sort of -Christmas card

Hi
I got Lea from TuJ's and a Taco to help me with my frame. This is a picture from ChristmasFiles.com. It looks a lot like our friends house in the country. Their house is more modern but the setting is almost identical. Perfect for a card for them. I used the Cuttlebug Snowflake folder and a peel off sentiment. I think there is too much red and too much black but not every card meets our expectations that we have in our minds eye.
Have a Blessed day.

Second Post today- A winter play day with the deer

Hi
I know this is not a card but it was such a great experience I just had to share.
We live in the middle of a residential and commercial section of the city. There are always big trucks and traffic and buses going by but where I live there is a small green area. In front of our mobile home is one more row of mobiles and then the green spot. There were 5 deer yesterday and three were playing tag with each other. (Impossible to film). These two are playing the head butting game. I only have a real cheap little camera and they are about 2 blocks away and in order to get them in the picture I had to sort of lean over my kitchen counter and angle the camera to get a shot of them through the window. That makes the mobiles and sheds look funny. Look to the left and middle of the pic. Sort of just above the roof of the left hand mobile.
Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. It was a good half hour spent. Sort of a good reminder to slow down, right?
Have a Blessed day.

White and blue poinsettia

Hi
I wanted to try a white and blue poinsettia last year but ran out of time and this year I am a little more brave with using inks and things so tried one. I love how it turned out. Little bit of silver gel pen around the outer petals and some glitter spray.
I layered with white cardstock and soft shimmery paper. The folders are Cuttlebug Christmas Tree and Snowflakes. Three thin ribbons wrapped around to hold the peel off sentiment and a peel off snowflake for the top of the tree. Paper embossed with the snowflake folder to line the envelope.
Have a Blessed day.

Stampscape experiment

Hi
I just had to try different colors of Perfect Pearls Powders and so stamped a few different colors. This one is gold and I just layered some really pretty musical paper and matted with red. The sentiment is Dollar Store stick ons from last year. Lined the envelope with some of the paper and called it good.
Have a Blessed day.

Winter scene

Hi
This little card has many layers. I made a few mistakes so had to cover them up somehow. I was experimenting with the Cricut and trying to make an aperture but my measurements were off and I hated to waste the card stock so just covered up as best as I could. Should have paid more attention in math class. lol
The frame is one Lea at http://tujs.wordpress.com/ made an svg for me. I decided to play some more and removed the centre she had made for me and used a cloud shape from the SCAL library. Lea, I have used the original file on other cards but they aren't finished yet. Thanks so much.
The picture is from ChristmasFiles.com and printed on photo paper. You can see the inside frame around the picture because the card kept popping open and short of using a paper clip to keep it closed I just took the picture. Added a peel off sentiment and some pearls. The envelope is lined with the picture.
Have a Blessed day.

Another snow flake card

Hi
Last year when I was surfing the blogs I found a beautiful card. I wanted to do it so this year I did. I am sorry I did not keep the name of the blog where I saw it so if it is yours please let me know and I will give you credit.
I have just layered white on white and used Cuttlebug folders Swiss Dots and Snowflakes, a little ribbon, some silver glitter, and a peel off sentiment. The lining is just paper run through the Cuttlebug with some silver ink and added to the envelope. Of course, if you want to see it better click on the pic.
Have a Blessed day.

Christmas butterfly

Hi
My love of butterflies just had to play a part in my Christmas cards somehow. lol
When I first got my butterfly die cut from Marianne Design I just had to try it out and the handiest scrap of paper I had was a bit from my Christmas cards. It has been sitting in "the pile" for awhile so I used Glossy Accents to make it shiny etc. and popped it up with a pop dot. Added some Christmas papers and the sentiment and some bling.
Have a Blessed day.

Glitzy snow flakes

Hi
Sometime one of negatives just lays there begging to be used for a card. This was one of those cases. The snowflake negative was laying on top of my pile with the glitter paper underneath. So in order to make a dent in the pile I put it together and called it good. I added a peel off snowflake or two and added a snowflake paper on the inside and the envelope. I believe the snowflake paper was from Jak Heath. http://www.jakheath.com

Re Frosty card

Hi
Whoops, forgot to post the wee story for the Frosty card.
The cardstock was embossed with the Cuttlebug Snowflake folder. The bottom card is the true blue color of the cardstock. A little ribbon, a snowman peel off that I colored, a sentiment stamped in silver and embossed and a few snowflakes and that was it.
Have a Blessed day.

Fans, butterflies and accordian flowers

Hi
I have been reading about using some of the paper we have been saving for a "special" card. I decided that every card is special.
This is a 12" by 12" piece of gorgeous cardstock by Forever in Time. I cut only a small portion of it to make this card. There are gorgeous swirls and flowers on the other 3/4 of it. They will become another card very soon.
The fan is made from a CD cut in half and then very carefully popped into the micro between several layers of paper towel for only 5 seconds. It popped and crackled but the result was this gorgeous crackle effect. (the paper towel had burn marks on it so be very careful and watch it). My friends husband cut the CD's for me. I believe he used a chop saw. The center of the accordian flower is a piece of bling I found among my stash. Pretty isn't it?
The camera picks up multi colors but in real life it is silver with soft brown cracks in it. Again, clicking on the photo shows the detail of the DP.
Have a Blessed day.
Myrna
P.S. In my Frosty post (which came in two parts) I forgot to mention that I stole the card idea from my friend Gail at What's Normal. http://scrappintimes-gail.blogspot.com Thanks Gail.

Frosty Snowman Greetings

Deer Christmas Greetings

Hi
Such pretty background paper needed something gorgeous to go with it. The forest scene was a picture from the computer and printed on photo paper. The DP was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder Brocade Window. The sentiment was written with Amy Chomos gel pens on the Cricut and then I placed it inside the tab and cut it out on the Cricut. The envelope was lined with more of the DP paper. Of course if you wanted to see it better click on the photo. Camera is still misbehaving.
Have a Blessed day.

Mitten Christmas Card

Hi
I was visiting a few blogs and Juliets blog http://ballpointbliss.blogspot.com/ gave me an idea. I had just seen mittens on Lynn Pratts blog http://stampndesign.blogspot.com/ and thought it would be such a snap to do a card like that. Well it was in a pdf and I figured I could just trace it into SCAL and away we go. Not so. There were too many nodes to cut smoothly. It took forever and it was cutting in dashes not one long smooth cut. Finally it got done. So of course it had to have bling. The poinsettia is an svg cut from Birds Cards http://www.birdscards.com/. The snowflake is one I have had in the computer for awhile. Sorry that was before I kept track of whose work it was. If you recognize it please let me know and I will give you credit. A little dollar store felt and there it was. Also a little glitzy silver paper behind the snow flake for added interest.
Have a Blessed day.

My first Stampscape

Hi
This is my first Stampscape. I think the card is pretty standard. Black cardstock for a base. The gold trim is the inside of an envelope from a card. The Stampscape is Lakeside Cabin 147F. I used Perfect Pearls Powder gold. The only thing that worries me is that the PPP seems to smudge even after 2 or 3 days. Will have to do something about that.
Have a Blessed day.

Clouds and blue flowers

Hi
I thought I had posted this little card but then I discovered it was hidden away under the pile of "to do" things. Here it is. The DP is from The Dollar Store. It has clouds all over and a darling baby boy in the corner. I will use him another time but for now I wanted clouds.
The daisy frame is from http://www.birdscards.com/
I absolutely love her blog and she has great svgs (free) which I use a lot of. The little flowers are the ones I use all the time. The leaves are a Penny Duncan svg.
I have been having lots of trouble with getting my pictures into blogger. My camera insists on putting them into Windows gallery instead of my files. Time to talk to my computer buddy and see if she can fix this annoying glitch. It takes a very long time to find them. Ok so now I have vented I will post this. I really must get at the Christmas cards.
Have a Blessed day.

On another note

Hi
Just had to use the title-lol It is just a slight variation from the note card I posted a couple of posts back. The little difference is the note is angled, I have some corners from Cuttlebug die cuts. Different musical sheet music paper. Different matting. Isn't it amazing how just a few little changes can change a whole card?
Have a Blessed day.

Another flower

Hi
The background paper, along with a big yellow flower had been sitting on my desk for awhile. If you saw the last post with the big yellow flower (chrysanthemum)then you know which flower I am talking about. When I went to put it together it was way too bright for the yellow in the background paper. Back to the drawing board. Now the flower has been cut partially from DCWV The Old World Stack and the rest from cheap card stock.
The border punch is from EK and I think called braid. I ran some ivory card stock through the Cuttlebug Swirls folder. The bling is just a peel off from the Dollar Store. So much of my stash has been from the Dollar Store or just things I collect along the way. Sorry that I hardly ever know where they came from or the names of them.
Of course I lined the envelope with some of the blue floral paper that the flower is made of.
Have a Blessed day.

Bees and Blossoms

Hi
I have a tendency to see an SVG cut that I like and so have to try it right away. I end up with piles of cuts that need something done with them. This was one of them. It is called Mat, Bees and Blossoms by http://cafexpressions.blogspot.com/. It has lain on my desk begging to be put together. Seems I am on the music sheet kick lately. I offset the layers on purpose so it looked shadowy. The daisy has been kicking around the desk for a long time too and needed a home. The little bee is just a peel off that has been in the drawer since I started card making.
I actually have gotten a couple more cards done and learned a new technique. Maybe not so much learned as finally figured out how not to screw it up. I will show that card in the near future.
Have a Blessed day.

Second post today Thank you card

Hi
I thought I might be able to use my Cricut and Amy Chomos pens to make the sentiment on this card. So I set out to learn something new and imported the saying into the Cricut.
I printed some sheet music and printed the sentiment on that instead of cutting. The background is black cardstock, then some dollar store grey cardstock I have had on hand. Cut out the music note on the Cricut. Popped it up with pop dots. The music is printed on a soft shade of grey but the camera didn't pick the grey up very well. Tied a bow and that was it.
Inside the card is another music note and I lined the envelope with some of the same grey used as the grey mat.
Learning how to import into the Cricut sounds fairly easy but it took me quite awhile to figure it out. But now I have a whole new way of doing sentiments and they might just look a little bit professional. lol
Have a Blessed day.

Whimsical birthday card for Breanne

Hi
Just a whimsical birthday card for my grandaughter who loves shoes of all kinds, the more far out they are the better she likes them.
The boot is cut from SVGCuts freebies and covered in sticky leopard skin. The background is sticky red glitter paper. These two sticky sheets are called crop-it stickers from the Dollar Store. The boot lifts up to reveal a message.
Just a real quickie as I needed to get it into the mail.
I am not fond of it but--------------sometimes that's the way it is. LOL

Two Halloween Cards

Hi
My camera isn't co-operating with me today but here are two cards I made for Halloween. What with all my canning and gallivanting I only found time to do two cards.
These are stamps I found at Joannes Fabrics and Crafts in Colorado when we were visiting family. Thanks Curt for telling me about the dollar bin and Halloween stamps at Joannes. The cobweb on both cards is from The Dollar Store and the spiders and things are from there too. The tree is from Penny Duncan Creations and I used Amy Chomos pens to draw it with silver glitter pens instead of an svg. The envelope is just folded from Halloween paper that my step daughter gave me. The edging of birds is from Blue Hills Studio, Tweet Tweet. The darker orange on the last card is closer to the proper color and both cards have envelopes.
That's it for me.
Have a Blessed day.

Inspiration

Hi
This was the sky from my front porch that inspired me to start my canning adventure. I thought with such a wonderful start to the day that all would go well. LOL Actually all the fruit looks lovely. I ended up with 13 quarts of plums, 1 qauart of apples, 5 quarts of pickled beets and 3 crabapple jelly/syrup.
I know I haven't posted a card in a long while but I do have two made and just waiting for the sun to do its thing so I can get a picture of them. I think it is going to be a bit difficult to see the detail but I shall try.
That's it for me.

Don't they look pretty - but

Hi
Here is a picture of the container all those crabapples came in. Yes it was washed out. lol Beside the pail are the three (3) jars of jelly they made. My aren't they pretty? Yep it would have been lovely but they didn't jell. So we now have crabapple syrup.
Some more plums!!! OK so I went out and bought a canner just so I could can the rest of those plums. Here is the result.
Now I am going attempt one more canner of plums and I think I will even get brave and throw in one jar of apples just to see what happens.
This is the result of not canning in 30 years !! One gets out of practice.
This post really is for Gail and Curt who I know will appreciate the humour in it. Eventually I will too. Perhaps the next post should be a card???
Have a Blessed day.

Second post today -Lacey's birthday card

Hi
I decided to try one more time to find the last card I had done and forgot to take a picture of. While we were visiting Joy I got the photo and tonight I actually got it off the camera. Hooray!
It is an iris folded butterfly. A little more tricky to do than my usual ones because you have to do each side alone and there is very little room to attach the paper under the body. The flower is one I love doing and have shown many times on my blog.
Well that's it for me.
Have a Blessed day.

This is what I have been doing instead of cards

Hi
Well after 3 weeks with his family in Colorado, one week with my brother in British Columbia and 1 week with our family in Alberta I am trying to get back in the swing of things. Not an easy task. lol
While we were in B.C. my sister-in-law and I picked at least 40 pounds of blue plums. I didn't know that 40 pounds of plums could be so much fruit. I brought back 120 pounds of apples. I also raided her garden for beets, carrots, pumpkin, potatoes, corn and onions. Once that was done we cleaned up the garden for the winter.
This is only a small portion of the canning I did in the 3 days before we went to my daughters. There are beet pickles, pumpkin for freezing and beets for freezing. Also froze 8 freezer bags of plums. Didn't even make a dent in the boxes. On top of that I made 6 pie crusts, one pumpkin pie and one apple pie for an early Thanksgiving and early birthday celebration for Joy. Because she works those days, we celebrated early.
I also took a picture of the birthday card I made for Lacey and forgot to post before the holidays. Now it is on the camera but I am having a problem taking photos off of the camera.
Ok that's it me for this time. More on my adventures with canning in the next post (if I can get the pics off the camera).
Have a Blessed day.

Holidays may be over- perhaps just one more

Hi
Just a quick note to all my blogging friends who may or may not have been wondering where I am.
I have been holidaying. Three weeks spent getting to know my step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. One week spent with my brother and his wife.
Now it is back to business. I have tons of veggies to freeze, can or pickle so I may be a little lax on my card making. I have at least 3 to do for October so better get with it.
When I think of it, there may be one more holiday in the offing. Thanksgiving and my daughters birthday are so close together that we will celebrate them as one and so that is one more short trip. lol
Thanks to those of you who tried to reach me via email. Makes a girl feel special to know she was missed.
Have a Blessed day.

Nothing to show-forgot to take photo

Hi
Just wanted to tell you all that follow me I made my grand daughters birthday card and was in such a hurry to post it I forgot to take a picture of it. When she receives it she will photo it for me and I will then post it.
In the meantime I also wanted to tell you that I am going to take a short vacation from blogging. Nothing serious, just taking time away. Perhaps a couple of weeks or perhaps a month. Not sure. lol
Hopefully when I return I will see all your beloved faces again.

My moms paintings Third in a series of three

Hi
This is the last of the Indian Maiden series.
Yes, the "Great Spirit" granted her happy ever after wish and brought her a handsome man. Which brings me to the Apache Wedding Blessing, which I love.
Apache Wedding blessing

Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter to the other.

Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth to the other.

Now there is no loneliness,
For each of you will be companion to the other.

Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.

Go now to your dwelling place,
To enter into the days of your togetherness.

And may your days be
Good and long upon the earth.

This is my wish for all of you who read my blog, may your days be good and long upon the earth.
I have two more paintings in my possession which I will post. By that time I am hoping I will have gotten another card put together. lol
Have a Blessed day.

Needing some help

Hi
In the last couple of weeks I found on someones blog, a recipe for homemade dishwashing soap and also a link to another blog which had a recipe for homemade laundry soap as well. I was so sure I had bookmarked the site but apparently not. Does anyone remember seeing this site?
Thanks

Moms paintings First in a series of three

Hi
This is the first in a series of three paintings that my mom did. She had done this one and when I saw it I thought it would be nice to have a story told by some more paintings. So I asked her if she would do two more for me and she agreed. This is the first where the Indian maiden is contemplating her life. They are all framed in older wooden frames. I am wondering if I should have them reframed to reflect the style of my present home. We shall see. Any comments are welcome.
Whoops, I made an error in how old the paintings were. They were done in 1982 and 1983.
Have a Blessed day.
