Hi,
This Sympathy card was made for a very old and dear friend. She was 88 and we have been friends a long time. Her daughter and family have also been long time good friends. It is always sad to lose a loved one but especially at this time of the year. I am sure she will be watching over us all this season and enjoying all the festivities.
Have a Blessed day.

Emboidered flower card

Hi,
This is a card posted just for my cyber friend Beth N. just to prove I can do something without snow!! haha
I have to share this bit of stuff with all of you who read my blog. I am so excited about a gorgeous gift I received today from a total stranger (for now) who lives in the UK. A dear friend of mine was in England and Scotland this past month visiting her aunt and other family members. Her aunt is into cards too. This lovely lady, Dorothy, sent me 2 card making magazines with lovely inserts of card material. Some wonderful peel offs, that I have not seen in my travels here in Canada. I was deeply touched by her wonderful generosity and am just dying to get into the books and try some of the creations in there.
Have a Blessed day.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus

Hi,

Mr. and Mrs. Claus are beginning to show their age.

Some 40 years ago when my daughter was only 2 we lived in a rather isolated spot and with not much else to do I decided to make some Christmas decorations with what I had on hand.
The base of Mr. and Mrs. Claus is made from old Reader's Digest magazines (they were much thicker in those days). Folded and spray painted red.
Their arms were made of felt, as were their hats and stuffed with cotton.
The leather mitts were just glued together and stuffed with more cotton.
The wire spectacles were fashioned by my father from old wire.
The lace on Mrs. Claus dress came from an old wedding dress.
Over the years they have both lost their leather boots, but they have travelled many miles and have seen several new homes in different provinces.
Hope you like my little trip to the past.
Have a Blessed day.

Winter Wonderland

Hi,
Here is the BIG Christmas card for this year.
Blue cardstock is 8.5 " x 11 " folded in half.
The card is a step pop up card.
Glitzy white paper makes the snow.
Cricut Potpourri cartridge makes the trees and the little stars come from the Snowflake punch. The little snowman was a peel off and colored with water colors.
Seasons Greetings was stamped on the base with silver ink and embossed with clear embossing powder but doesn't show up very well. Will have to invest in some white ink. lol
Stickles dot the card for bling. Hope you like my card. Hope I have managed to enter the blog for the S/D #20.
Have a Blessed day.

Penguin and Igloo Christmas Card

Hi,
These two little guys seemed just right for my 2 step-grandsons.
The card stock is white with an igloo drawn on and cut out.
The two little penguins are made with fun felt as is the snow. I had great fun cutting these little guys out. Note the date, but I am a bit behind for this year. lol
Have a Blessed day.

Sleigh Christmas Card

Hi,
One more glitzy blue and white card.
The white card stock size is 5 1/2 x 7 1/2 layered with blue glitzy paper.
Embossing done with Snowflake folder.
Sleigh and city outline done on the Cricut with the Potpourri cartridge and attached with pop ups.
Stars are the bits from the edge punch Snowflakes.
Today I am off to try something a bit more ambitious with glitter paper and the Cricut.
I have just realized we are getting that much closer to Christmas and I must really get something done.
Hope you like my card.
Have a Blessed day.

PINE CONE CHRISTMAS CARD

PINE CONE CHRISTMAS CARD

Hi,

Another blue/white and glitzy card!!

This one is layered white card stock and blue glitzy paper.

What will I do when the blue runs out? Easy to see blue is my favorite color.

The Snowflake punch was used again. The sentiment was computer generated.

The pine cone is from Potpourri Basket from Cricut.

Hope you like it.

Have a Blessed day.

Nana's Memories and More: Cuttlebug Challenge #59 Oh My Crafts

Nana's Memories and More: Cuttlebug Challenge #59 Oh My Crafts

Snowflake Christmas Card

Hi,

With all the GORGEOUS creations on Festival of Lights I was so inspired I just had to get on with making a few cards.
This one is white cardstock, 51/2 inches by 51/2 inches.
The next layer is glitzy blue paper, from The Dollar Store.
The next layer was embossed using the Snowflake folder from Cuttlebug.
Snowflakes and trees are done on the Cricut with blue glitzy paper, attached using dimensionals.
The edge was a snowflake punch and sorry, can't remember the name of the company but it was bought at Michaels.
The ribbon was some from "my stash".
I seem to have a "thing" for glitz this year and of course, blue is my favorite color so I feel another glitzy blue card coming on.
Hope you enjoy it. I am hoping to be able to figure out how to enter it for a chance to win Cubblebug folders from Cuttlebug Challenge #59 Oh My Crafts.
Have a Blessed day,
Myrna

Scotty Dog Christmas Card

Hi,
Friends of ours have scotty dogs and what better Christmas card than this one? The red card stock is layered onto white card stock. The snowflakes are embroidered as well as the leash. The snow is just a piece of felt. The little snowflake in the corner is a stick on from, you guessed it, The Dollar Store. The scottie dog is felt.
I have been following all the wonderful creations from Cuttlebug Challenge Festival of Lights. Wow, there are some pretty impressive creations there. All the ideas start swirling around in my head and so I am off to try a few of them.
Have a Blessed day,
Myrna

Red Hat Birthday Card

Hi,
This card took me a year to finish. It was for a special friend of mine. We have been friends for almost 30 years.
The idea came to me when she joined The Red Hatters but I had to find just the right combination to go with the Iris folded red hat.
It came down to the crunch and it was almost her birthday so I had to hurry and finish it.
The hat is iris folded from red foil, the silhouette is velvet, the pearls are hobby craft pearls, the feather is a Dollar Store feather, the ribbon is from "The Stash" (my own) and the hat pin is a florist pin and ruby beads, all framed within a small cardboard frame from The Dollar Store. A little bit of gold sparkle and that was it.
I always wonder what size cards people work with and I am sorry I don't have the measurements.
Have a Blessed day,
Myrna

Hi,
Today I am using odds and ends from my stash. This is my granddaughter Breanne's 15th birthday card. She loves bright colors and it doesn't matter if they match or not. I just couldn't find anything bright and bold enough in a whimsy and I think Brea is just a bright, beautiful young lady and so I went with my heart.
The background is Cuttlebugged using D'Vine swirl.
The cardstock is from The Dollar Store.
The purple foil is foil used for origami.
Have a Blessed day.

Hi,

Whoops!! See what happens when your mind is on too many things. I posted yesterday that the card I made for my brothers 77th birthday was a step card. Well, it isn't. lol The information regarding Dawns how to do a step card was right.

Step birthday card

Hi,
This is my brothers 77th birthday card. It is a step card and I have no idea who to give the credit too. It was on one of the sites I had found a while ago. Dawn Griffith at "Dawns Stamping Thoughts" has a video on how to do it this month.
The cardstock is chocolate from the Dollar Store and the inserts are from cardstock by American Crafts bought at Sheep River Scrapbook Co..
As usual embellishments come from stuff on hand. I wasn't too overjoyed with the gold oval but had to get it into the mail so had to go with what was available.
Have checked out Beths blog at "Nana's Memories and More" for today and it is such a sweet simple card I think I will be trying it out today.
I will be trying the step card with some Christmas ideas but that will be when time permits for all that cutting and trimming.
I really have no idea who I must give credit to so if anyone can help me with blogging etiquette it would be greatly appreciated.
Have a Blessed day.

Pheasant picture taken on holidays

Hi,
This pheasant kept coming to the feeder with his hens and we could watch them from the front window. They would feed and all of a sudden they would just disappear into the brush. We could see nothing or hear nothing. Then they would just casually stroll out of the brush and start to feed again. It reminded me of a title of a book. The book was called "Who Has Seen The Wind" by W.O. Mitchell. He tells the story of a prairie boy's initiation into the mysteries of life, death, God, and the spirit that moves through everything, the wind. I felt that the pheasant had seen the wind. So the whimsical card idea was born.
The card stock is plain white (from The Dollar Store) and the border is Fiskars Threading Water, the sparkly red border is, again, from The Dollar Store. The little frames around the pheasant are from the Cuttlebug corner punch and they are the little bits that would normally get tossed.
Have a Blessed day.

My favorite things

Hi,
Oh dear, oh dear I am not sure this is going to do what I want it to do.
The cardstock is chocolate brown, the Cuttlebug folder used for the white background is snowflakes I believe. I found the leaves before Halloween at Wal-Mart and the cats and ribbon were in my sewing basket. The flowers are flowers from the garden of Lori from The Scrap Hut, an online store, but if you live in Calgary you can pick your product up at her store. The flowers are attached with a very big pop up dot so it holds all four petals together in case they break away from the stem. The ribbon was tied so both sides would be seen as they compliment the colours so well.
Fall is my favorite time and of course cats are my favorite pet. I love flowers as well so here are all three.
As I have said before I use what ever comes to mind. I buy most of my paper from Wal-Mart or the Dollar Store.
Hope you enjoy my card.
Have a blessed day.

Thank you card with apples

Hi,
Just thought I would elaborate a little on the card I posted. Last Christmas we received a box of Purdy chocolates with gorgeous apple paper and a wonderful burnished brown ribbon. I was dying to do a card with it but just didn't have any idea what to do. This September we were in British Columbia, Canada and picked apples from a tree of a lovely couple we just met. Voila, the idea for the card was born!!
I used white card stock with an inlaid piece of red sparkly card stock and soft yellow card stock under the bow. The apples were cut from the beautiful Purdy paper and the ribbon was adorned with a hat pin made from ruby beads from my stash and a florists stick pin. The apples have a little dew drop (diamond sticky) and were attached with several pop up glue dots.
So until next time, have a Blessed day!

First time blogger

Hi, I have been following Beth Ullman and now have created my own blog. I don't know what I am doing yet so be patient with me!!!!
I make cards from materials I find in my house and garden. I use Cricut and Cuttlebug and dabbling in a few stamps. I tend to make my cards with the person receiving it in mind so they are very personalised.
