Red butterfly with paper pricking and paper embroidery

Hi,
Time certainly has a habit of getting away from me. I have been meaning to post something but life just gets in the way. I also decided it was time to tidy up all my craft supplies so I could find what I needed to do a project and not take half a day to find the material. Then by the time I found the right material the time for crafting had flown.
I read Beth N.'s Sunflower and Dragonflies blog on time management and figured I better try and take a page from her book. lol
This is a card that I did with paper pricking and paper embroidering. The body of the butterfly was done with red beads. The Happy Birthday was a Dollar Store package of Happy Birthdays in a rather metallic material.
Hoping to get more on track with my blogging now that the holidays are over (and the craft supplies are tidier).
Have a Blessed day.

Sympathy Card

Hi,
Sympathy cards are never easy to make.
Our neighbour of 11 years passed away after being ill for a short period. They were expecting him to come home after being in the hospital for a couple of months suffering from a stroke. Unfortunately he passed away.
Today I wanted to take a casserole over and so needed to make a card.
The wreath is paper embroidery. I used ribbon from my stash. The sentiment was computer generated and attached with pop-ups.
Have a Blessed day.

Paper embroidery and paper pricking

Hi,
These are my first attempts at paper embroidery and I really enjoyed it. I also tried my hand at paper pricking and thought it made quite a nice embellishment to the cards. These cards are for friends of mine who both have cats. Hence the cats peeking out from behind the gift boxes. (not easy to tie those tiny bows lol).
Sorry the pictures are on the angle but as my card making improves so does the picture taking. lol
These easy cards preceded my making the first complicated hedgehog card that I posted earlier.
Have a Blessed day.

Hedgehog Birthday Card

Hi,
This little hedgehog was my first attempt at paper embroidery with more than just a line.
I wanted something cool for my step-daughters birthday because she was a New Year baby. (Now she is the mother of three. )
It proved to be a bit more time consuming than I expected but I am pleased with the final result. The background was a recycled card.
I am going to post another card just to show the first paper embroidery I did.
This is so much fun but since my cattarract surgery isn't until Oct. 2010 I find it hard to do. Hope when the surgery is done I will be able to see really well and can get back to the intricate paper embroidery.
Have a Blessed day.

Winter Wonderland Challenge SD24

Hi,
This is one of the cards I have made. The background is a recycled card and the snow flake is from The Dollar Store. The cardinal was taken from my stash of embellisments. The rabbit and deer were cut from another Christmas card.
I hope to enter Beth's winter wonderland challenge with this one. #SD24.
As usual I try to use things around me and my home.
Have a Blessed day.

Butterflies 'n' Brown

Hi,

This is a cute diamond foldnote card.

It was so easy to make and you can add a whole lot of note paper inside or just a matching sheet to write a letter on.
The photo shows the card closed and partially open to show off the butterflies and the interior paper. The butterflies on the inside note paper were computer generated.
This was a thank you card to the surgeon and his team who gave me a new hip. It made me feel I had the freedom of a butterfly after so many years of having pain and being unable to do much. With the new hip came a new freedom.
Have a Blessed day.

Explosion Boxes

Hi,
These are the explosion boxes I made for my grandkids Christmas. Each box opens up to have several pages. Sorry I should have opened one to show you. They were filled with $5 bills behind each partition so that when they were opened the money sort of "exploded" into their laps. They all opened them at once and it was great fun to hear the different ooohs and aaaws. I guess they are actually picture albums but I ran out of time and so was unable to choose pictures for each box. However, that will give the grandchildren something to do. lol
I definitely need to give credit to the gals from the Cuttlebug Challenge from Christmas but I can't remember who I got the ideas from. So I hope it is o.k. just to say thanks to them all.
Have a Blessed day.

Hi,
This card started out because I wanted to use the embossed plumbers tape that I showed yesterday on the candles.
But it just grew and grew and finally it was way too big, 6 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches. I like it but it would have been better if it would have been smaller.
The patterned paper is, of course, glitter.
I am beginning to see I need to start with a precise size of card stock. lol That way I have to stay within the parameters.
Oh well I hope my sister-in-law will like it anyway.
Have a Blessed day.

Candles with edging

Hi,
Here are two candles I did for a present. Time was running short so they didn't get "showcased" all by themselves. The boxes behind them are some I did for Christmas and I will show them on one of the next posts. They really were a hit with the grand kids.
The silver embossed plumbers tape worked perfectly. The embossing was done with the Cuttlebug and of course I don't have the name of the folder. That is a project I am planning on taking on, is to label my folders and punches. Along with "trying" to organized the craft stuff I have accumlated. (going to be a job and a half lol)
This picture is leading up to the next card I post. lol
Have a Blessed day.

Erics 21st birthday

Hi,
This is a card for my grandson, Erics, 21st birthday.
It is hard to come up with a masculine card and I didn't think he would care for glitter so I chose his favorite scenes. He loves nature, mountains and especially deer.
This is a computer generated nature scene and the deer is a picture I took when we were visiting B.C. I just cut out 3 and put pop dots on them.
I hope he likes it.
Have a Blessed day.

Another Thank You Card

Hi,
Second post for today.
This was a Thank You card for another dear friend of mine. Again I was blessed with a ton of craft making things!! Lucky me to have such wonderful generous friends.
The glittery paper is from, as usual, The Dollar Store. The silver lace started out as trim for a vest a long time ago and which never made it to the vest. lol
The pearl on the feathers is from an old earring. Just took the back off and used Aylers tacky glue to attach it to the feathers.
The silver and pink glitter paper is mounted on black glitter paper and the thank you on silver glitter paper is raised with pop up dots. The border trim is a Fiskars punch called leaves ( I think) and was obtained from Michaels on their 50% off day.
Again I forgot to sand the glitter paper and the Thank You fell off so had to be sanded and glued again. Thank goodness it fell off before I mailed it.
Have a Blessed day.

Hi,
Thanks Beth for the nudge. I guess I kind of got a bit lazy after Christmas. lol
Some of the cards I have made were in the camera but ------ .
This was a thank you card for a dear friend of mine who gave me some gorgeous card making things for Christmas.
As usual all my stuff came from "my stash" or The Dollar Store !!
The glittery paper is a gorgeous silver paper and the blue bottom is a soft glittery baby blue. I embossed the Thank You with turquoise blue ink and the heat gun. I love the heat gun and what it can do. The pearls are Dollar Store stick ons. (but sometimes they don't like to stick to the sparkly paper). Note to myself:- always sand the sparkly paper before sticking things to it. lol
Have a Blessed day.
